If I wasnt a gamer I wouldnt buy a desktop computer for my family use again. My kids and wife are happy with their tablets and phones and laptops. And Ive just spent two week in the US on business and I didnt bother to take my laptop with - I took a Windows 8.1 tablet by Lenovo - brilliant, light, easy to use - and powerful. And mouse driven. It could crunch through a recalc of my biggest spreadsheet in 9 minuts - my laptop takes 15 to do the same! It was a trial device and I am not looking forward to giving it back on Monday!

But I REALLY missed the two 24inch screens I have on my work PC. (Of course the Windows tablet has a mini-HDMI connection!)

And of course, as a gamer, tablet games just arent there for me - they are purely a temporary distraction.

So I suspect Ill have a desktop PC at home for a long time to come. But I will be in the ever decreasing minority...

Of course as the decision maker for buying PC's at my work anyone who is desk bound will get a desk top PC for the forseeable future - its easier to secure and less easy to steal! (Nobody wants them any more!)
