I want to make my computer silent - because I use it for work and the noise is starting to piss me off. I've pinpoined it to the Radeon HD 7770 card that I have now.

Can you make me a suggestion for something like this:
- must be in the range or a little better then the one I have (can't really afford a beast of a card now)
- must be nVidia (I work on Linux, video drivers from AMD still suck)
- should be as silent as it gets?

Do you have any recommendation?

I don't have too much experience comparison wise between different models, just check out benchmarks.

One big suggestion about silence, is to get a ASUS DirectCU II card, it basically has 2 fans instead of one, wich make it a lot more silent...
My HD6950 runs at around 25% fan speed with 100% load.

Good luck!

I have the MSI GTX660 Ti Twinfrozer, dual fan, bigger fans.
Can't hear it running even when playing high end games.

This is no longer the one to get because there are newer ones out there that perform better for a good price, but the message is: do not get one with a stock cooler!

So MSI Twinfrozer or the already ASUS DirectCu II are good options for high performance without noise.

Go with an EVGA nvidia card with ACX cooling, things are efficient and really silent, the 600 series will perform righteously

The gigabyte wind force card vender series has 3 fans. I don't know if they make that for 600 series. but they are Mimes.
