Last night during the unveil of the new AMD R9 290X Dice developer announced a new API called MANTLE.

This api takes advantage of your hardware 9 times better then directx or opengl.

BF4 will receive the manta update early december.

Mantle works on PCs with GCN-based graphics hardware.

Interesting. So with that thing we could use slower graphic cards to play games which required some high end graphics?

This basicly means people with 7000 series amd videocards and newer architectures will have a major advantage cause the game and pc hardware will work A lot better togheter.

But i have to admit amd is making this opensource, so nvidia can use the same api when it becomes available!

Good guy AMD.
Don't think Nvidia or Intel would have done the same..
