Mr. Riccitiello stated, "EA is an outstanding company with creative and talented employees, and it has been an honor to serve as the Company's CEO. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and after six years I feel it is the right time for me pass the baton and let new leadership take the Company into its next phase of innovation and growth. I remain very optimistic about EA's future — there is a world class team driving the Company's transition to the next generation of game consoles."

I appreciate that the money is in console games but as a PC gamer it's worrying to hear no mention of PC focus at all.

I would also love to think the utter mess of Sim City's launch had some influence on him stepping down.

So right, looking at the statement that "they are driving the Company's transition to the next generation of game consoles".

Obviously EA sees the big money in consoles and not in PC gaming, making PC the low order market which will have to do with console ports more and more in the future (with all known issues).

Gaming became big business over the last 10 years and what we're experiencing is probably what the hardcore movie fans had to endure with Hollywood. Soon we'll be as extinct as they are. It's the way of life, I guess?
