Nice upgrade

Whould have gone intel personally. Alot more future on their side.

The motherboard is prepared for the upcoming AMD Piledriver processor series, so iツエm not worried,

Intel is a safe choice, but to expensive. AMD gives power for every spent buck

True, but bulldozer was a big letdown, so in my eyes there is no reason to believe piledriver is any better. It might be, but personally i'd go with what i already know that is fast, which is Intel. But i do hope for you Piledriver runs better than Bulldozer stuff :D

sweet, nice build for AMD Hangover, I do hope the new silicon is good for AMD, even an Intel fan will agree having a strong competitor drives down prices and drives up innovation for all.

My one trivial comment is the 4x4 ram, with 8gig dimms if you keep this pc as long youll be able to pop in 2 more for a total of 32 in due course. Ram is cheap tho and 16s plenty atm, im on 16 gig and its never running out of memory any more.

Otherwise, nice one, enjoy your shiny new machine :)

Doesn't work. She needs new stuff more [TM] :)

J/k, the wife is not the real issue, I can handle her. I just need to work even more to make more money :)

Now itツエs up and running. Couldnt get the graficcard to start up yesterday and it tock me a couple of hours to get the Noctua processor fan to fit the processor. The memorycards was to high. Had to take a grinder and grind down the cooling fins on the CPU cooler. When i put the grafikcard in 6950 mode it started again. I find the computer that much faster now, although I still run on the same processor. The processor is currently working in the 3.5 ghz and the temperature is at 31 degrees. Will try later today. Bought 1866 memories, but the computer chose the default to run them in the 1300th.

Yeah, easier said than done. If I ban my wife and spend the money on the rig, then I have no money for hookers. And the wife bans me back - from the bedroom!

You guys are screwed then, you'll have to deal with a very frustrated old guy :)

hahaha epic - yes this is a problem, gskill vengeance ram actually have removable top fins for this situation.

yes something youll find in bios, look around the ai tweaker tab memory settings, either manually set 1866 and any extra voltage, or if there is an XMP setting, use that because its auto and it should adjust the voltage too (if it needs it)

It works fine to run the memory in 1866 mhz after the processor upgrade. The cpu temp raised from +36 c to +46 c with the new processor. The computor is totaly different now. It respond so much faster and Bf3 is out of lag. 150 euro and it runs like hell.

I think i need liquid cooling to run it in 5 ghz
